Advertised for tonight: Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens, and more!
Bengaluru, May 28: With Super ShowDown pay-per-view is within 11 days from tonight, it’s high-time that WWE hypes up the ongoing rivalries. Contrary to the unorganized storylines of WWE Raw, Smackdown Live has been able to declare themselves to be the saviour of WWE programming. A surprise return changed the course of the title picture last week, starting a new feud that will continue on tonight’s episode. We also expect an update in the women’s championship storyline that has become stale since Super ShowDown can’t have any title match in-store on the card. Also, the heated rivalry between Roman Reigns and the McMahon family will be dragged out when Smackdown airs this week from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We have witnessed an almost repeat telecast on WWE Raw from last week’s Smackdown where Dolph Ziggler pounced on the champion from the back to deliver an onslaught attack. This time around, Xavier Woods was out to make the save but the show-off managed to leave a statement, once again as he finished the night off with a heel promo demanding respect from the WWE Universe. Will these relentless attacks let him receive the ''unsung hero’s’’ reception from the crowd? Definitely, No. Rather, they will shower even more praise to the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston who is up for a battle even in this wounded condition. Even after suffering back to back attacks from Dolph Ziggler, Kofi has to feature in a rematch from Money in the Bank against Kevin Owens. Can Kofi prevail defying all the odds? We’ll find out on tonight’s episode of Smackdown. 10 Best Mutual Funds for Retirement Top 10 Mutual Funds for Retirement Find a wide selection of women's clothing, shoes, jewelry and watches at Amazon The Smackdown women’s championship picture needs a booster as the storyline did not move forward ever since Money in the Bank. Bayley made history on that night by successfully cashing in her briefcase on Charlotte Flair and thereby becoming the only women’s Triple Crown champion in WWE history. However, her accolade will soon start fading away in case she does not get booked in a proper storyline angle. Bayley always claims to be a strong women’s champion which needs more title defenses against her name. But unfortunately, the next PPV Super ShowDown will not allow any women superstars to compete in it. This might be the reason why WWE still not booked her against an opponent which is not a valid excuse, at all. If they arrange a random tag team match just like last week’s Smackdown, it is not going to help the champion’s status. The beef between Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns is continuing on WWE programming for weeks. The younger McMahon went really personal on WWE Raw when he took shots against Reigns’ family, the Samoan Dynasty which produced veterans like Afa, Sika, The Usos, and The Rock. Shane even tried to hurt one of the Reigns’ cousin badly with the triangle submission hold. The Big Dog was able to fend him off with a Superman Punch but that must haven’t been enough to seek retribution. Reigns must be fuming inside and waiting patiently to teach Shane a lesson on tonight’s episode of Smackdown. The Intercontinental Championship match is set between Finn Balor and Andrade at Super ShowDown. This is the first time that the Mexican superstar is getting a shot to the prestigious title in a PPV. But he will be up against The Demon version of Balor who still possesses an undefeated streak in WWE. We’ll learn how Andrade is preparing for this tough challenge. As for the other storylines, it’ll be interesting to see how WWE books Smackdown tag team champions on the show. One half of them, Daniel Bryan has denied visiting Saudi Arabia for Super ShowDown. So he and teammate Rowan are yet to receive any challenger over their titles. Will they receive new opponents? We’ll find out when WWE’s Tuesday Night television program rolls down on the USA Network.

WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Full Results and Analysis for May 12

Those expecting to see the advertised main event of Roman Reigns vs. Luke Gallows Tuesday night in Des Moines, Iowa, may have been disappointed, but WWE more than made up for it with the SmackDown episode it taped at Wells Fargo Arena.

On the heels of a molten-hot angle that added further heat to their WWE World Heavyweight Championship Extreme Rules match, Reigns and AJ Styles were under the same roof once again as Gallows and Karl Anderson battled The Usos in a grudge match.

Would champion and challenger be able to contain themselves, or would the animosity that has developed between them prove to be too much?

Cesaro and Sami Zayn battled Kevin Owens and intercontinental champion The Miz in tag team action. Which of the four stars would emerge riding a wave of momentum, with the favorite leaving Extreme Rules with the coveted secondary title?

Those questions and more were answered as WWE taped this week's USA Network presentation. Thanks to our friends at Wrestling Inc., you can find out everything that went down at the show.
Dean Ambrose cut a promo regarding Monday night's attack on Chris Jericho and destruction of his light-up jacket. The lights went out, and when they came back on, Jericho stood over his fallen rival and pulled out a straitjacket. He never put it on Ambrose, but he did leave him lying in the ring to end the segment.
Rusev defeated Sin Cara. After the match, he capitalized on Lana's brief distraction to take out Kalisto, leaving both Lucha Dragons laying in a heap.
Dana Brooke defeated Becky Lynch.
AJ Styles promised Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows he would take out Roman Reigns if he tried to interfere in the night's tag match.
The New Day cut a promo, but The Vaudevillains interrupted it.
Aiden English defeated Kofi Kingston.
Reigns promised to take care of Styles if he got involved in the tag match.
The Usos defeated Gallows and Anderson via disqualification when Gallows used a steel chair. The Club stood tall to end the segment.
Another Darren Young-Bob Backlund vignette aired.
Sami Zayn and Cesaro fought The Miz and Kevin Owens to a no-contest. Cesaro and Zayn pummeled The Miz, leaving the IC champion lying on the mat to close out the show.

Rather than take the predictable route of having Roman Reigns dismantle Luke Gallows in the originally advertised main event, WWE Creative made the correct call by booking Gallows and Karl Anderson stronger than it has since their debuts, courtesy of a steel chair-assisted beatdown of The Usos.

The tandem had ventured into the deep, dark abyss of becoming glorified lackeys of late, so shifting the focus to them was a wise move.

The match's outcome was disappointing, though, especially when taking into consideration the fact The Usos do not need to be protected in booking. They could have eaten a clean loss to Anderson and Gallows and been just fine.

Factor in the no-contest that closes the show, and one cannot help but call out WWE Creative for its lack of convincing outcomes, essentially rendering the matches meaningless.

The angle that kicks off the show seems particularly effective, much more so than the ridiculous one that ended Raw. Jericho is a much more entertaining villain when there is that dangerous edge to him; introducing the straitjacket is particularly intriguing. Perhaps it plays into Y2J's presumed match with Ambrose at Extreme Rules?

SmackDown is rarely the breeding ground for hot angles and monumental occurrences, but it is home to solid wrestling and simplistic angles. That appears to be the case again this week. Will it mean anything in the long run? No, but it will provide the audience with an entertaining two-hour show, which is appreciated.

Projecting Impact of Vince McMahon's Decision on Control of Raw at WWE Payback

Vince McMahon's handing over control of Raw to his son Shane at WWE Payback 2016 will create sparks that morph into a fire that burns on into SummerSlam.

Don't expect a resolution at Sunday's pay-per-view but instead a shifting of power that further complicates a convoluted story. All signs point to Shane McMahon remaining at the helm but with his sister Stephanie McMahon ready to claw her way back to being in charge of Raw once more.

On Monday's Raw, WWE made an addition to the Payback card, announcing that Vince will decide which of his children will run the company's marquee show at Sunday's pay-per-view.

The issue of who runs Raw was supposed to be settled at WrestleMania, only to drag on without a clear explanation, so the audience has good reason to be doubtful that things will wrap up nicely. Shane lost the bout that would have earned him sovereignty over the show. Yet he continues to be in power.

So the folks at Top Rope Tuesday are far from the only ones hesitant to believe that things will truly be settled at Payback:

WWE is not going to just let The Authority return to power that easily. There has been too little drama leading up to this point. Stephanie only just showed up to push back against Shane this Monday.

Expect WWE to milk this narrative far more than that.

Besides, how anticlimactic would it be for Shane to be shoved aside by a decision? There has to instead be a big match down the road to finally settle this. You don't have Undertaker vs. Shane inside the Hell in a Cell as the precursor and use Vince's announcement as the climax.
And since Shane has run Raw, there has been an air of freshness to the show.

WWE is giving him kayfabe credit for bringing in new talent such as Enzo Amore and Apollo Crews. It has presented his reign as one that is creating buzz. Would WWE just take that away without a real fight?

Like Vaughn Johnson of Philly.com, many don't buy this as being Shane's last hurrah:

Instead, count on Vince angering Stephanie by appointing Shane the head of Raw for the foreseeable future. That will be the catalyst for what's ahead—an extended showdown between The Authority and Shane-O-Mac.

Shane being in control will set off The Authority, especially Stephanie.

In the coming weeks, she will take every possible measure to regain power. She will gripe, whine and, as history tells us, slap the spit out of someone in the process. The strife that follows will be the foundation of a major battle ahead.
Stephanie will choose a proxy to face either Shane himself or a Superstar of his choosing at SummerSlam with Raw dominion hanging in the balance. Shane can choose one of the NXT stars he introduced; Stephanie can go with a friend of The Authority such as Sheamus.

That will be a far more fitting, emphatic end to this tale. WWE can then drag this on for the next few months and get a bout with high stakes out of it at the year's second-biggest event. Vince's announcement will simply set all that in motion.

The Payback decision isn't where the entertainment lies; what happens afterward will be the real show.
